Smaller wedding show vs. mega wedding show

Over the years, we have had a lot of brides come to talk to us about photographing their wedding.  Many times, they have attended a large wedding show with hundreds of vendors.

The conversation goes something like this:

Us:  "How did you like the huge (fill in show name here) wedding show?"

Bride:  "We were exhausted!  I have a big bag of literature that I picked up from all the vendors."

Us:  "So, did you find that to be helpful?"

Bride:  "I stuck it under my bed.  I haven't looked at it.  It's just too much!"

So, the mega bridal shows can be a bit overwhelming.  There are crowds of attendees and crowds of vendors.  Not very personal.

What's the alternative that might be more helpful?  How about a smaller wedding show?  Many times hotels or other venues put on smaller shows with a few select vendors, maybe 5 or 10. We have exhibited at some of these.  You get much more face time with vendors.  However, if you don't hit it off with those particular vendors, you may be disappointed. Maybe there is a happy medium.  Read on.

We are vendors at an upcoming show that I would call "medium sized" - the Loudoun Wedding Show.  There will be about 60 vendors, which is more than a small hotel show, but less than the hundreds of vendors at a mega show.  You will be able to spend quality time with vendors that will meet your needs.  There are still some "big show" features, like a fashion show and a grand prize package worth around $4,000.  Being a smaller show, you will have a larger chance of winning!

There is something to be said for a wedding show that will leave you relaxed, not exhausted, with valuable information from vendors that you actually want to use.

If you want to go to a mega show, the Washington Bridal Showcase is at the Dulles Expo Center on the following weekend.  So knock yourself out!  You could do both shows, but you may find everything you are looking for at the Loudoun Wedding Show.  Then you can skip buying a new pair of walking shoes for the mega show!
